Rising Star Concert
This concert will showcase the original music of Sarah Gettys, arranged by veteran bassist Peter Barshay, along with a handful of jazz standards and arrangements of pop songs. Her music brings together melodies informed by decades of classical piano study, vocal tone and harmony drawing from her experience as a jazz singer, with the simplicity and direct storytelling qualities of folk music, summarized by Theo Bleckmann as “sophisticated folk with a hook.”
